Sofia. ”Common mushroom and the oyster mushroom are the most widely grown mushrooms at present in Bulgaria. According to official information from the statistics of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, the mushrooms produced amount to about 2,500 tonnes, which is not true. Our information at the Union of Mushroom Producers is that the production is some 40,000 tonnes,” said Professor Nidal Shaban, member of the management board of the Union of Mushroom Producers in Bulgaria, speaking in an interview with FOCUS News Agency.
”We do not include the small mushroom producers in these 40,000 tonnes and we do not have information about their production,” Professor Shaban explained.
According to him, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food has not yet listened to the ways of managing the sector proposed to it.
