The Congress will involve concurrent sessions of live oral presentations (12 min presentation with 3 mins for questions), dedicated poster sessions, as well as invited keynote presentations (25min presentation with 5 mins for questions) over a two-day period on the 26th and 27th of the joint event.

Information for Authors and Presenters

The following information is provided for researchers planning to make a presentation of their research work live at the 20th Congress.

Preparation of Abstracts

Authors will need to prepare and submit their abstract(s) online. A link to the submission platform will be emailed in March as soon as the site is open for submissions.

The abstract submission platform will remain open to authors until 30 September.

Abstracts can be submitted on any research related to mushrooms or the mushroom industry. The Scientific Committee will allocate submissions on similar areas of research into topic groups that will enable concurrent sessions and poster areas to function effectively at the 20th Congress.

As a guide to authors, topics groupings from recent Congresses were: genetics and breeding; substrate, composting and casing; nutrition, bioactive compounds, medicinal aspects; mycorrhiza; germplasm and taxonomy; pests and diseases; molecular biology and genetics; molecular biology and biochemistry; marketing and consumer research; training, outreach (extension), and industry development.

Authors will need to indicate whether they want to have their research considered for an oral presentation or a poster presentation.

Where abstract submissions have been accepted, video and poster submission fees will be:

ISMS member: EUR25; Non-member: EUR50.

A payment receipt needs to be provided at the time that the video or poster files are submitted.

NB ISMS membership is free. Visit the ISMS website membership page to become a member.

Successful submissions

All abstracts submitted will be reviewed by an expert from the 20th Congress Scientific Committee. Responses to authors will be sent in November.

Authors whose abstracts are accepted for an oral presentation will be asked to prepare a PowerPoint presentation and video recording of their presentation. Posters presentations will be a single page in PDF format. The deadline for submission of presentations is 10 December.
