China: Shanghai Finc Bio-tech to triple production of speciality mushroom Shimeji

Shanghai Finc Bio-tech Inc. is one of the main companies producing the speciality mushroom, Shimeji in China, the quality is high with a long shelf life and stable supply all year round.



From seeding to harvest, it's a long period of more than 100 days in the cultivating room for the Shimeji mushroom. Jasmine Shu from Shanghai Finc Bio-tech Inc. explains that by using proper temperature control and humidity, no pesticides or chemicals are used during the cultivation, "we produce the most natural, safe and nutritious mushroom for consumption. The company also has all the relevant certification such as ISO/HACCP, GAP etc.



Traditionally it was mostly Asian people who ate this kind of mushroom, but nowadays, more and more of the Shimeji mushroom is consumed by western people.



Shanghai Finc Bio-tech Inc. currently produce 18,000kg of Shimeij mushrooms per day, this is not always enough to satisfy demand. The company will increase production to 40,000kg per day by March 2012, and up to 55,000kg per day by the end of 2012. Jasmine expects all the markets to improve in this period.



70% of the Shimeji mushrooms from Shanghai Finc Bio-tech Inc. are marketed in China, covering 40%-50% of Chinese market. As for the international market, the company supplies fresh mushrooms to Europe, North America, South East Asian countries, Middle East and Africa every week. Jasmine says, "In addition to this, we are looking forward to an improvement for all our markets and to bringing this healthy product to more and more families."
