Fuzhou to become China’s biggest edible mushroom exporter

For the first time, Fuzhou has exported edible mushroom of over 100 million U.S. dollars in the past 11 months, making itself China’s biggest port to export such goods, according to Fuzhou Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau.

As of Nov 20, Fuzhou’s port exported 6,510 tons of dried edible mushrooms, an increase of 22.1 percent, with a net worth of 118.1 million U. S. dollars, up 27.4 percent year on year.

In recent years, Fuzhou has steadily expanded the export of edible mushroom. Statistics from Fuzhou authorities show that in 2008, Fuzhou exported 3,676 tons of edible mushroom, with a worth of 35.9 million U.S. dollars. In 2009, the export amounted to 4,451 tons, valuing 56.8 million U. S. dollars. In 2010, the export soared to 6,121.7 tons, valuing 96.4 million U. S. dollars. In the past 11 months of this year, the export exceeded 100 million U. S. dollars.
